As one of PFG’s founding partners, the CUSO utilized his background in Asset Liability Management and institutional investing to establish itself as the premier facilitator of Loan Participation.
PFG’s work in the Loan Participation field has paved the way for hundreds of credit unions to enhance their performance. Entering the Cyber-Age in 2000, the launching of the Loan Participation Auction transformed the participation market into one open for business 24/7.
Before joining PFG, Jim’s background includes positions at a Primary Dealer where he was the Fixed Income Manager for the Unit Trust Group, and as a trader for a regional Broker Dealer.
Jim is a graduate of Empire State College, State University of NY, with a Bachelor of Science in Economics.
He holds the following NASD Registrations:
- General Securities Principal (Series 24)
- Municipal Securities Principal (Series 53)
- General Securities Representative (Series 7)
- Blue Sky (Series 63).

Jeffrey C. Miller

Jeff has worked with credit unions for over ten years, analyzing their investment needs, recommending suitable actions, and executing transactions to meet those needs. He joined Paragon Financial Group in 1994 to set up its fixed income trading desk.
Before joining Paragon, Jeff worked as a broker, specializing in credit union investments and the fixed income markets. Jeff’s experience includes service at a regional broker dealer, where he developed a specialization in credit unions. Jeff also spent a year at an inter-bank brokerage firm dealing in currencies, where Jeff honed his understanding of markets and economic interpretation.
Jeff has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Delaware. He holds the following NASD Licensing:
- General Securities Representative (Series 7)
- Blue Sky (Series 63) registrations.

Paragon Federal Credit Union
Paragon is a $250 million credit union with over 46,000 members. Approximately one third of these are educators and administrators within 52 Bergen County School Districts. The other portion is made up of over 80 other organizations, including Sony Electronics, Mercedes Benz and CPC International, just to name a few.
Prior to his current position with Paragon, Richard served as President\CEO for the $300 million Sandia Laboratory Federal Credit Union in Albuquerque, New Mexico (1985-1990), and Executive Vice President at the $800 million Eastern Financial Federal Credit Union in Miami, Florida.
Richard is a graduate of Rutgers University, attended Pepperdine University’s PKE (President and Key Executives) MBA program, and received his CPA designation while living and working in Texas.
